The flight weather should be good through Wednesday, except for a chance of showers on Tuesday afternoon due to a cold pool of air aloft and a disturbance moving through the area late in the day. Rain is expected on Thursday with clearing on Friday into the first part of the weekend. Currently there is a chance of rain again by Sunday.
We have space available on most flights.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there!
Flying weather for the coming week is a mixed bag as per usual. Probably most flyable in the AM’s due to cold pool aloft early in the week that can fire up instability showers by the afternoons. Winds should slacken some by Monday to be flyable. Rain is scheduled to return on Thursday with improving weather Friday into the upcoming weekend. Weather is a dynamic thing, so things can change as the week goes along here in the Northeast.

Just wanted to give some recognition to a group of local flyers who call themselves “The Black Sheep Squadron“. Last weekend, they had organized a fund raising event called “Rally 4 Abbey” for a young girl who is in Albany Med after suffering a brain aneurysm. Even though the balloons were not able to fly due to weather, through food sales and auction donations, they were able to raise $3,875 to help the family with expenses. Last year, the “Sheep” had a “Rally 4 Cody” event for a young boy who has cancer. The willingness and generosity of this group of balloon flyers is truely admirable.

The weather should improve for flying maybe by the Monday PM flight, or at least for Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.

Currently, Wednesday afternoon appears to clear some and be flyable. The rain will return overnight on Wednesday, with unsettled weather through Friday. The weekend weather picture is mixed, with Sunday being the better of the two at this time.

Flight weather looks good for doing a flight tonight, Monday the 4th. Weather looks to go down hill on Tuesday with rain expected, then the weather improving again on Wednesday. Weather later in the weeks looks unsettled, but improving over the weekend. Stay tuned, there will be flight opportunities for those looking to experience balloon flight in this beautiful early spring time.

Well, last night’s flight was winded-out. Even though the aviation forecast was for light and variable wind, it was typical unpredictable spring weather as it gusted to over 12 kts right till sunset. For the coming week, we expect flyable conditions through Tuesday (forecast models are not in agreement as to how far north the rain/waive of low pressure in the mid Atlantic States will travel north), with best chances currently for rain to be late Wed into early Thur, and again late Fri into Sat.

Hello blog world, Adirondack Balloon Flights is now blogging.
April 30 was our first passenger flight of the 2009 flight season. Jon and Jessica joined us for a beautiful morning flight.

The trees are just now budding out and some leaves are starting to unfurl, giving a very soft pastel look to the scene. Kinda the opposite of the bright colors of fall, but just as colorful in a subtle way. Our early spring flights offer folks an opportunity to fly with less people onboard since the tourist season is not yet in full swing at either Lake George or Saratoga Springs. Come on out and enjoy our early spring weather! It’s a great time to fly!!
