Balloon Flying Weather for the Week and the 4th Holiday Weekend

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

I wish I had better news on the weather front, but the beat goes on and the weather repeats itself like the movie Groundhog Day. It will rain off and on right through the forecast period which currently is through Monday. There will be limited dry periods to do any flying so we will see what if any weather if available for doing a flight. Enjoy your 4th of July!!

6/30/AM Hot Air Balloon Ride

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

It was a very nice morning for a hot air balloon ride for 2 couples in town on vacation. A young couple all the way from the UK and another out-of-town couple from MA were on board with us this morning. Today’s flight originated from Argyle¬† in beautiful rural Washington County, which is the part of New York State that the famous folk painter Grandma Moses lived and painted

Weather Update for Weekend Balloon Rides in Lake George and Saratoga Springs

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Right now, Saturday is looking like the worst day of the weekend weather wise. Strong storms are predicted for our area around 6PM today, Friday. Heavy storms will diminish after sunset with scattered showers into the early evening. There is another round of scattered showers predicted for the early morning hours on Saturday when an upper low settles over the area. The upper low looks to move to our southeast later in the day on Saturday, bringing less rain and low clouds on Sunday. Then another closed low will drop into the area late Sunday to continue the unsettled weather pattern right through Wednesday, when a front is finally advertised to move through the area to hopefully bring some clearing and dry weather for the coming holiday.

Flying Weather Update for Weekend Hot Air Balloon Rides

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Well, unfortunately our weather looks to go downhill again, which will make getting any of our Adirondack hot air balloon rides up the next couple of days difficult, possibly right through the mid part of the upcoming week. Saturday morning may be the most promising of next few days. We will have to wait and see how the systems come through and whether the next cut-off low materializes as forecast models are now advertising. Ah, the great Northeast. You gotta love it to put up with this weather. The weather for the month of June has been about as dysfunctional as our New York State Senate.

Hot Air Balloon Ride Weather for the week of 6/22

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Well, this has been a miserable stretch of weather for doing balloon rides. And unfortunately, it looks to continue through a good part of the week with maybe some good flying weather by the weekend. You wouldn’t know it’s summer looking out the window this morning. Summer has become a fleeting seasonal phenomenon, but it will eventually show it self and we will enjoy it!

Hot Air Balloon Flying Weather For Weekend Of 6/20-21

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

Currently the forecast has 100% rain for today, Thursday into early Friday. Then a break in the rain for most of Friday with rain returning on the weekend. It looks like there is a possibility of doing a balloon ride on Friday afternoon at 6PM. How much rain we get on the weekend is not certain at this time. Some forecast models have the bulk of the rain passing to our south and east, but most models indicate another heavy rain event for part of Saturday and Sunday. The flying weather looks to improve after Monday through the middle of next week. Updates to follow as they are made available by the National Weather Service. We currently have space available on all flights through next week, so make your plans for when our flying weather improves for our hot balloon rides.
