Weather became a challenge for a bit of last week and the weekend. That looks to be the advertised forecast for a good deal of this week into the coming weekend. The leaves are just getting colorful and should be peaking in a week to 10 days. Posting a pic from our only flight from the past weekend.

Weather looks to be unsettled through Thursday with a series of progressively stronger cold fronts, which should lead to good flying weather later in the week for at least the first half of the coming weekend, possibly into early Sunday. For those of you looking forward to the weekend’s Adirondack Hot Air Balloon Festival, your best viewing of the hot air balloons will be on Friday PM and probably both flights on Saturday. Sunday PM right now looks doubtful, with the morning flight a maybe. The Thursday PM flight from Crandall Park looks doubtful because of a frontal passage on Thursday and windy conditions.

After a short vacation up north at the Hedges on Blue Mountain Lake late last week and Saturday at the Jazz Fest in Lake George, we had some beautiful September flying weather. We flew folks from FL, MD, the Cap District, Local Hartford NY and Newlyweds on their honeymoon.

After getting skunked again on a weekend due to the weather (rain on Sat., fog on Sun AM-tho did notice 2 of the younger local pilots doing a flight w/less than ideal-read legal-visual flight conditions, and wind Sun PM) we had beautiful flight conditions on Monday AM for a couple from Egg-harbor NJ and a guy from Thomaston CT.

Flight weather should be good on Wednesday and we have space available on both flights. Weather may go down hill Thursday/Friday and improve again just in time for the weekend. We have space available, call to schedule your flight.

For the lucky 09/09/09, we flew a couple from Ballston Lake on a nice long flight for their 20th Anniversary.

This weekend’s weather is a bit mixed, with good chance of rain overnight tonight into Saturday morning, then improvement by the afternoon. Sunday AM should start the day flyable with the chance of weather moving through during the afternoon. The Albany National Weather Service Office is calling only for a weak upper level trough with some clouds and a chance of sprinkles in the mountains, but the Burlington VT office is calling for a cold frontal passage with a wind shift and gusts to 25 in the afternoon. Either way it works out, it usually means no flight for us. We are expecting mainly dry weather for the coming week with a dominant Canadian high pressure system that will be reinforced with an additional frontal passage overnight Monday. There should be some good flying available during the week, and we have many spaces available on our rides. I will not be available to do rides tho Tuesday AM (doing a tether demo for the Elementary kiddies over at Argyle Central School) and will be on a short vaca on Thursday and Friday.

We have a dry front pushing down from Canada today which may only result in a wind shift near flight time. Because of the potential wind shift, we will not schedule a flight for this afternoon. After some possible early morning dense fog for Wednesday, the afternoon should provide some fine flying weather, possibly through the Thursday AM flight. After that, forecast computer models are not completely in agreement of rain chances, but they do increase for Thursday afternoon through Friday PM. We are currently expecting a dry and flyable weekend into the early part of next week. We have space available on most flights for those interested in flying this week. We will be scheduling our flights through the end of October.

We just went through the best stretch of flying weather we’ve had this year. After a slow start to the week, business picked-up with quite a few of flights accomplished. Unfortunately, the flying weather wasn’t perfect (it never is) and we lost 2 flights to fog and 2 flights to either too much wind or not enough. Yes, not enough wind is as bad, if not worse than too much wind.

It’s been a week since our last flight. We had 2 couples on last night’s flight from the Capital District area.
Joe & Nikki from Mechanicville-Don & Carolyn from Schenectady
Weather looks to be mostly good, except for dense early morning fog, through mid next week. There is a slight chance of some rain either Saturday afternoon or overnight, and same on Labor Day-Monday. Enjoy your Holiday Weekend, last of the summer season. Looking forward to our fall flying season.
