Weather and Mothers

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

Just went out for a walk with the wife between rain systems blowing through today. Good Grief, what a temperature drop just in the last hour out there behind that last rain that weather service said was moving through at 50mph. Also, weather service is advertising wide spread frost early Monday AM. Be careful with your Mother’s Day posie plantings.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL YOU MOTHERS OUT THERE!!

Changing Weather

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Last week was still fairly mild for late Fall, but, by the weekend, the 1st real snowfall of the season.

Friday 12/4 was still fairly mild in Lake George Village

Later I’ll post some pictures of today’s snowstorm which produced around 8 inches. The ski hills should be much happier now and should be able to open more terrain for sliding. Prior to today’s snow, the local ski hill-West Mt-barely had any snow made and was not open. Gore only had one trail open over the weekend and Whiteface also had limited terrain open for skiers and boarders. Over in VT, Okemo, Killington and Stowe were open but Stratton had not as of the weekend.

Balloon Ride Flying Weather for the week 9/22-27 and the Adirondack Balloon Festival

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Weather looks to be unsettled through Thursday with a series of progressively stronger cold fronts, which should lead to good flying weather later in the week for at least the first half of the coming weekend, possibly into early Sunday. For those of you looking forward to the weekend’s Adirondack Hot Air Balloon Festival, your best viewing of the hot air balloons will be on Friday PM and probably both flights on Saturday. Sunday PM right now looks doubtful, with the morning flight a maybe. The Thursday PM flight from Crandall Park looks doubtful because of a frontal passage on Thursday and windy conditions.

09-14-09 AM Flight & Weather Update

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

After getting skunked again on a weekend due to the weather (rain on Sat., fog on Sun AM-tho did notice 2 of the younger local pilots doing a flight w/less than ideal-read legal-visual flight conditions, and wind Sun PM) we had beautiful flight conditions on Monday AM for a couple from Egg-harbor NJ and a guy from Thomaston CT.

Flight weather should be good on Wednesday and we have space available on both flights. Weather may go down hill Thursday/Friday and improve again just in time for the weekend. We have space available, call to schedule your flight.

08/20/AM Hot Air Balloon Ride and update on Weather

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

A beautiful morning for a hot air balloon ride with two friends from the Chicago/Hague area.

Unfortunately the weather now goes downhill probably right through the weekend. Hurricane Bill will hold up some of the weather that will be entering our area on Friday, keeping us wet until Sunday. Enjoy your Thursday!

Hot Air Balloon Ride flying Weather for the Week

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Got skunked this weekend on flights  that I was available to fly passengers. The only real flight opportunity this weekend was on the Saturday evening flight, which I was not available to do with son Grant in-town from CO. We had dinner at Bistro Tulluluh’s planned for a family outing. If you have not had the opportunity to eat there, do! Anyway back to the weather, Monday is a good flying day, except for this morning’s fog, and hopefully tomorrow AM will be good for our planned ride. Weather goes down hill for Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday. After that, we look to potentially have our longest stretch of dry weather since mid May. Let’s hope that we finally get this dry stretch because the flight area is very wet. The ability of the chase vehicle and crew to drive into fields to retrieve the balloon and passengers is not good at this time without some significant drying time out in the flight  country.

Early Look at the Hot Air Balloon Flying Weather for coming Week

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

High pressure moves into the area today for the early part of the week, to be followed by some unsettled weather.  The best flying weather for going on a hot air balloon ride looks to be tonight, Sunday PM and probably Monday AM, both flights on Tuesday and the early Wednesday AM balloon ride. Other than tonight, we have a number of spaces available for our hot air balloon rides this week. So call to make your reservation while we have this nice stretch of weather. The best chance for rain during the week looks to be late Wednesday into the overnight. Check back for weather updates as they come in.

Flying Weather for our Hot Air Balloon Rides

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

Flying weather looks good for our Sunday afternoon ride and also Monday morning. Rain returns for Monday afternoon and Tuesday-naturally, what’s a day with out rain-and dry again by Wednesday/Thursday. We have plenty of space available for reservations so give us a call while the weather is good for enjoying one of our spectacular hot air balloon rides in the Adirondacks, Lake George, Saratoga Springs region of upstate New York.

6/24 Update to Balloon Flying Weather

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Currently the forecast has decent flying weather for the Thursday AM flight, and improved flying weather for the weekend starting Friday PM through Sunday AM flights. The weekend weather currently looks to be best on Saturday for doing hot air balloon rides. We have space available on all flights, so call to make your reservation now! Our balloon ride passengers meet the flight crew at the Exit 19 pick-up at 5:30 AM for the morning flight and 6:15 PM for the late afternoon balloon ride.
