Hot Air Balloon Ride Flying Weather into the Weekend and early next Week

Thursday, August 11th, 2011

The weather forecast for the balance of this week looks good for flying (other than tonight) thru at least Saturday morning. It appears that we are in for a soaking rain come Sunday into Monday, and possibly Tuesday. High pressure and dry conditions make a brief return next Wednesday, before another system brings more rain some time on Thursday. Hopefully these recent brief flyable periods, followed by extended rain events and unflyable weather, is not signaling a return to the weather we had earlier in our flight season. Anyhow, nothing you can do other than go with the flow and enjoy!

Weekend Flyers and Flying Weather for the Week of 7/18

Monday, July 18th, 2011

It was truly a beautiful summer weekend with clear skies, nice temps and low humidity, plus good flying conditions. To finish up posting my riders for the weekend -

On Saturday evening, I flew Ellen and Paul. Ellen is holding a picture of friends who arranged this flight for them as a gift ride with us.

On Sunday morning, I flew Guido and Paul. Sunday AM was the last flight for the weekend, as the surface winds stayed up due to the thermal heating from the warm afternoon sun. A beautiful day to be vacationing in our area, but not for doing an afternoon flight in a hot air balloon.

Today, Monday the 18th is bringing what looks like numerous storms which appear to be coming in waves today, into the early evening. The forecast weather should clear for Tuesday and remain summery for the balance of the week. After Tuesday, the heat and humidity will continue to build to the point of being a heat wave – 3 successive days of temps in the 90s. Looks like we get a frontal passage sometime late Thursday/early Friday, just in time to clear and drop the humidity and temps a bit for the coming weekend. I have space available on a number of flights this week, so call or email me if you want to fly! Mornings will be the best bet with the HHH weather.

Recent Hot Air Balloon Rides and Weather Forecast into the Weekend

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

We had a decent run of good flying weather at the end of last week and into the weekend. Coming up for this week, other than some weather forecast issues for Tuesday and Wednesday, the flying weather looks pretty good right into the coming weekend. I have a few spaces still available, so call or email if interested in flying.

Now for our recent hot air balloon rides, we were able to get 3 flights in over the weekend. On Saturday evening, I flew flew a young couple from the Troy area that got engaged on the flight.

Next up on Sunday morning, was a family from Chicago that that stopped to fly with me, on their way home after spending a week up in Lake Placid for a week long Can-Am hockey camp for son Reed.

The last flight for the weekend on Sunday evening, I flew Mack and Sue from the Slingerlands area who spent the early part of the day kayaking on the Hudson River.

Hot Air Balloon Ride Flying Weather for the Week of 7/5

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

The flying forecast for this week, other than on Wednesday, looks good right through the weekend. Hopefully, the forecast will pan-out to what it’s advertised. We could use some dry-time after all the rain we received since last week and over the 4th Holiday weekend. I have space available for passengers during this time period, so call if you want to fly. 518 793-6342.

The 4th of July Holiday Weather Forecast

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

The weather forecast through the middle of next week looks good for folks coming to the area for some vacation time. As far as hot air balloon flying weather, there will be opportunities to fly on a limited basis. As the upper low over Quebec moves out to sea, our conditions should improve at least into early Friday. They are forecasting a chance of showers in the afternoon on Friday with an disturbance rotating through, but the weather forecast maps do not indicate this. So, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see about Friday afternoon. Saturday morning should be good, then there is a front forecast to pass through the area overnight on Saturday, so that could affect the Saturday PM flight. Sunday may start out damp and improve as the day goes along. Depending on how far away the next high pressure area is after the frontal passage, will determine whether Sunday PM and Monday AM is flyable. Late Monday should be good as should Tuesday. An approaching frontal system will bring about a chance of showers on Wednesday. Well, that’s your 4th of July Holiday forecast right through the middle of next week.

A Peek at the Early July Precipitation Forecast

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

The precipitation forecast for next week into the first week of July is looking very good for getting some flying opportunities, as long as the 8-14 day outlook holds true?

The Weather Forecast into the Weekend and early next Week.

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

Well, the forecast is not looking very promising for flying much until next Monday. We may get the opportunity to fly on Sunday depending on how wet it is after the rain between now and then. We did just have one our best streaks of weather for flying in a long time, and were able to take advantage of it to get a few flights-in, plus, also enjoy a real nice Father’s Day off from flying.

Hot Air Balloon Ride Flying Weather for the Weekend and Next Week

Friday, June 17th, 2011

The current forecast is beginning to look a bit more like summer, with less rain and more sun and fun flying opportunities. Friday is wet as will be part of Saturday as another front passes through sometime Saturday afternoon. Depending on the timing of the frontal passage, the afternoon may be flyable. Sunday looks good as does Monday and at least the first half of Tuesday. Late Tuesday we get wet again due to a warm front through Wednesday, then stay wet on Thursday with a cold front. Hopefully, this will set us up for good flying conditions late in the week into the coming weekend. On a positive note, it looks like Lake Champlain is finally receding to nearly below flood stage. I heard on the news yesterday that the car ferry at Ticonderoga is finally opening. I posted pictures of it’s ferry dock being underwater earlier this month.

Hot Air Balloon Ride Flying Weather for the Week of 6/12

Sunday, June 12th, 2011

Well, the weather forecast for the week is about what it’s been like so far this spring flying season, more rain than sun? As of now, it’s looking like we may have a window to fly on Wednesday and Thursday, and again hopefully over the coming weekend. We have a number of spaces available, so call if you want to go to secure a spot. The open window for flying is small.

Weather Forecast Thru Early Next Week

Thursday, June 9th, 2011

Well, for awhile it was looking like we could get at least 1/2 the weekend in, but now, the forecast is looking even worse than what the forecast discussion is saying. So, another round of strong storms from at least late morning, thru the afternoon ahead of a frontal passage later today. There will be clearing overnight and Friday. Clouds and increasing chances of rain come in overnight Friday, with best chance of rain Saturday afternoon into Sunday. Rain may linger into Monday, before improvement for Tuesday and Wednesday. Hopefully, we can get our schedule flights in on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. After that, it’s not looking very promising for any more flying until next week.
