Recent Balloon Rides and Flying Weather for the Week

Monday, June 25th, 2012

We had a 50/50 weekend for flying our hot air balloon ride commitments. Both weekend morning’s were good for flying, while the afternoons saw unfavorable weather conditions for doing our hot air balloon rides.

On Sunday morning, I had Sally, David and Louise on the balloon flight. Louise, who is Sally's sister, was visiting Sally and David from England.

The weather forecast for the Lake George/Saratoga Springs area for the first half of the week isn’t the best for doing hot air balloon rides. An upper level low will settle over the area bringing wet, windy and cooler than normal conditions, until later in the week, when it will finally move off to the east and is replaced by more summer-like conditions. There is a possibility of some rain again toward the end of the week on Friday/Saturday, but the forecast models are not currently in agreement on how the various weather scenarios will play-out next weekend. The Climate Prediction Center is currently forecasting, above normal temps and below normal precipitation for the 1st week of July, just in time for the 4th of July holiday vacation week.
