We just had a very nice patch of weather at the end of September for doing some early fall foliage hot air balloon rides in our beautiful Adirondacks/Lake George/Albany-The Capital District region.
The weekend flights started on Saturday evening with a group of friends, Jeff and Maureen from Aberdeen NJ, and Rose and Michael from Brooklyn NY.
Next flight was on Sunday morning with two couples, Ken and Sharon from Blairstown NJ, and Ramya and Abhilash from Webster NY.
Next up, on Sunday evening was Doug and Jackie from Highland IN on a Private Flight, who made us a part of their extended fall tour of the NorthEast.
I wish that the weather forecast for the coming weekend for our Adirondack, Lake George Region was as nice as it was for the last 10 days or so, but, it looks like it will be a bit of a challenge to get many flights in thru early next week. There still is a lot of time left to enjoy our fall foliage flights, so get your reservation in before the season ends. Call me @ 518-793-6342

The weather forecast for the Adirondacks, Lake George, Albany-The Capital District, looks fantastic right thru early next week for our hot air balloon rides. Unfortunately, the flying weather did not cooperate for last weekend’s Adirondack Balloon Festival or our hot air balloon rides. But, for those who want to view the fall foliage that is rapidly coming-on, this is a great time to do it, and there is no better way than above it from a hot air balloon.
On Tuesday morning, I flew Ellen and her brother Gary visiting from West Bend WI, and Karen and Darlene, local from Queensbury.
Wednesday afternoon was another beautiful day for flying, on-board was Craig and Susan from Queensbury.

Unfortunately, the flying weather was not good for us this past weekend, which coincided with the annual Adirondack Balloon Festival . That weekend seems to be snake-bit as this is the 4th or 5th year in a row that the Balloon Festival weekend has been mostly a wash for flying. Anyhow, Tuesday morning was beautiful for doing a flight for some local folks from Floyd Bennett Airport.
The weather forecast for the Adirondack/Lake George/Albany-The Capital District region is fantastic for flying right thru next week. The fall foliage is looking good, so it’s a good time to take a hot air balloon ride with us. Weekends are a bit full, but flights during the week are still available through our fall foliage flying season. So give us a call @ 518-793-6342 to make a reservation to view the fall foliage by hot air balloon.

The weather improved over the weekend after all the heavy rain earlier in the week for doing hot air balloon rides. Our first flight was on Saturday evening –
On Sunday morning, I flew Julie from Clifton Park and her father Tom from Yonkers. Sharing the ride with them was Art from New York City on a gift flight.
The all important Adirondacks/Lake George/Albany region weather forecast for the week heading into the Adirondack Balloon Festival looks good for flying during the week, but a bit unsettled over the weekend. The weather charts from the Weather Prediction Center show high pressure over the area for a good deal of the week, then a frontal passage on Saturday. For those looking to view the balloons at the Adirondack Balloon Festival, your best opportunity will be on Thursday evening at Crandall Park and Friday evening out at the Airport festival location. If things work out, they may be able to fly on Saturday morning before the rain and wind with the cold front. Sunday probably won’t happen, but, you never know for sure until the day of with the weather.

Guess it’s time to get caught-up on the recent flights we’ve been doing. The weather for doing hot air balloon rides has much improved over earlier in the year. But, if the Climate Prediction Center’s 8-14 day outlook is to be believed, we may be heading back to an unsettled period for the last week of the month and the early part of September. I suspect we will get our opportunities to fly tho, especially for this coming weekend which looks great. So come on out and play!
The rides will be posted backward, starting with the most recent on back —
On the morning of the 15th, I flew Deny and Catherine from Kitchener ON, and Courtney and Scott from Baltimore MD.
On the afternoon of the 11th, I flew Joseph and Natalie from the Rexford/Clifton Park NY area, and Alec and Maryann from Albany NY
On the morning of the 11th, I flew Marc and Devin from Goshen NY, and Jeff and Sheri from Watertown NY.
Our fall flying season is rapidly approaching, so get your reservations in to view the fall foliage. That’s all for now!

It’s been awhile since my last post, mainly because nothing much has changed as far as the flying conditions, other than they have gotten worse as of late. So, there really was nothing to say. And my mother always said, if you have nothing good to say, don’t say anything at all! Anyhow, just to update the weather forecast for the Adirondacks, Lake George, Saratoga Springs, Albany and The Capital District, it remains very soggy, and once the rain finally lets-up, we will need some drying before we can even think of flying again due to very wet field conditions out in the flying area. The weather pattern seems to be tracking pretty much the same as the last 4 years (except each year, it’s a bit worse than the previous year). The National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center’s forecast pretty much confirms this, at least so far. So, if it continues as before, we should start to dry-out toward the middle of July, and, by the end of the month, most of August, and the first couple of weeks of September, go dry for good flying before it starts raining again just in time for the September Balloon Festival and the fall flying season (before it goes dry again heading into winter and ski season). Hey, I’d love to be surprised and get something other than these extreme weather conditions, where it’s either excessive rain or excessive dry (like they are experiencing out west right now). And if anything can surprise, it’s the weather. So, here’s hoping for…

Recent flights have been a bit spotty as of late due to the weather. On Saturday morning the 1st, I flew a mixed group, a couple from Astoria, and a customer from Scotia on a gift balloon ride.
Next up was the morning of the 5th. On board was a mother/daughter enjoying a gift flight over rural Washington County on a beautiful morning.
Now for the weather forecast portion of this post for the Adirondacks, Lake George, Saratoga Springs, Albany – The Capital District, and the outlook for doing any hot air balloon rides this weekend. In 2 words, not good. Right now, the weather looks rather damp right through the next week of June, according to the 6 to 14 day outlook forecast by the Climate Prediction Center.

The weather forecast for the Adirondacks, Lake George, Saratoga Springs, Albany, The Capital District, looks possible on Tuesday, and the best on the Wednesday AM and PM flight windows for going on a hot air balloon ride. Right now, later in the week into the upcoming weekend doesn’t look so good for going on a hot air balloon ride. I have space available, so either give me a call @ 518-793-6342 or contact me through my web site @ AdirondackBalloonFlights.com
