Recent Hot Air Balloon Rides and Weather Forecast

Tuesday, September 10th, 2013

We did manage to do a couple of flights when we got a brake with the weather. First was the past Saturday morning –

Michael, Christina and Joie, a family from Huntington NY.

On Monday morning, I flew 4 friends from Washington County, Fred and Phyllis, and Alyce and Ed.

The weather forecast for the Lake George, Saratoga Springs area for this week is not very good for doing balloon rides until we get to the weekend, specifically Sunday from what they are currently showing today. On another note about current showing of weather forecasts, last week I mentioned in my blog post that the CPC’s 7-10 day outlook forecast was looking wet heading into the upcoming Adirondack Hot Air Balloon Festival. Well, seems there has been a change of heart as far as their forecast models, and they are now advertising above average dry? Hey, it’s the northeast. Give the forecast a minute, and it’ll change – for the good this time!

Recent Hot Air Balloon Rides and Weather Update into Weekend

Wednesday, July 11th, 2012

We have definitely been getting decent summer weather lately in the Lake George – Saratoga Springs area, especially this week, the flying conditions are ideal. Last Friday, I flew Pritish from Fishkill and Dev from Blacksburg, VA on a beautiful summer morning.

Tuesday was another beautiful day for a hot air balloon ride. I had on-board, Marcia and Walter from the Rutland, VT area.

The weather forecast for hot air balloon rides is great right through Saturday, and I have space available the next few mornings. So, if you would like to fly in a hot air balloon in our beautiful valley between the Adirondack Mountains of New York and the Green Mountains of Vermont, either give me a call at 518-793-6342 or contact me through my web site, adirondackballoonflights.com. The CPC precipitation outlook forecast map is hinting that we potentially turn wetter for the later half of July, so take advantage of this week’s weather if you can.

Balloon Ride Flying-Weather Update for the Week

Tuesday, June 5th, 2012

The weather forecast for the Adirondacks, Lake George and Saratoga Springs region, for doing hot air balloon rides, improves each day toward the coming weekend. The best opportunity to fly will be in the morning’s until the upper level low finally moves off the coast of Maine and heads out to sea. High pressure is forecast to approach for part of the weekend, with temperatures increasing to summer-like, especially next week and into the following week. According to the CPC (Climate Prediction Center) outlook discussions, we should be under the influence of a ridge of high pressure, with above average temps and average precip thru the 20th of the month of June. So, hopefully that means no more cut-off lows parking over the NE, like this past week giving us unsettled conditions, with summer-like conditions and good flying conditions. We could use it!! Oh, and I have no flights to update since it’s mainly rained almost every day since Memorial Weekend.
